artist statement
Born and raised in Texas, belt buckles were common, if not standard. A belt buckle could be a simple unseen functional element, it could be a standout statement or somewhere in between. It’s functional, decorative and mobile.
In my work, east meets west. I pull from my Texas background, interest in Native American art and jewelry, and Japanese prints and tattoos. Each piece represents focus, repetition, fine craftsmanship and a unique vision.
Working with metal and creating things by hand is my way of "keeping it real" in the digital age - my ability to leave something behind.
